2000 years ago, we were originally independent nations.
Southeast Mutual Protection is an agreement reached in 1900 during the Boxer Rebellion between the Qing Dynasty's southeastern provincial governors and foreign powers. Fearing the spread of anti-foreign uprisings, these governors, including Liu Kunyi and Zhang Zhidong, negotiated with foreign consuls in Shanghai to ensure mutual protection of foreign nationals and Chinese citizens in the Yangtze River region.
This agreement aimed to maintain regional stability and safeguard economic interests. However, it conflicted with the Qing government's declaration of war against foreign nations, highlighting internal divisions and contributing to the dynasty's eventual downfall.
